F5GKW | SO LP ALL | Unusual openings to the far east north-east. Lots of fun regarding the other previous RTTY contests of the year where I was bored |
F5TFW | SO LP ALL | some errors in qso numbers, fldigi not top for contests ! consider the submission as log check |
F6IRG | SO LP 10M | 80 Watts - 4 elt Quad |
G0C | SO LP 15M | Only had a short time in the contest but enjoyed it - noise levels here in io82 quite high |
G0GQT | SO LP ALL | Fantastic activity on all bands. Sunday 1900z on 40Mtrs my pan adaptor was a continuous red line from one side of the screen to the other HI. A great problem to negotiate. Had the best sleep for years when the contest ended |
G2W | SO LP 40M | Difficult condx here Sunday Evening. Both 2 Tone and Gritty struggled to decode . Good fun contest ! |
G3G | SO LP 40M | Flex 6600 Antennas: Dipole |
G4DDL | SO LP ALL | Conditions not great with aurora making decodes difficult at times. 100W to simple wire antennas are not great for RTTY contesting. Mainly EU and USA stations worked but a few suprises were worked |
G4N | SO LP 40M | Enjoyed the contest despite poor conditions this year, especially when an Aurora knocked out signals from many parts of the world with 6hrs to go. Thanks to all who answered my CQ, sorry to the few I just couldn't resolve |
G4ZFE | SO QRP 10M | FTdx10 @ 5 watts and 3-ele monobander @ 8m Generally outstanding condx. Saturday afternoon UTC was very good to W6/W7. Sunday morning UTC was very good to JA/BY. Some solar disturbances but a very enjoyable weekend of RTTY and one to remember. Thank you for the patience with my QRP signals! |
G7SLP | SO HP 40M | One of my favourite contests |
G8X | SO HP 10M | In a perfect world … Data Contest QSOs would be simple to complete, the computer would make all necessary corrections, and operating would simply involve the pressing of the ENTER-key to move on to the next QSO. … thath would be in a perfect world. But RTTY is not like FT-8 and other JT modes where the skill-level required of the operator is minimal. Anyone reading this on the CQWPX RTTY contest site knows that every RTTY QSO involves the operator checking that all data sent and received is recorded correctly in the contest log. So why do we put up with a growing number of stations using contest software in S&P mode that send the QSO serial number along with the callsign in the first transmission to the Running station ? This happened very many times during this contest, much more frequently than I recall in the past. The calling station's callsign, often garbled and distorted due to a relatively low signal strength and QRM, is entered by the Running operator in to the Callsign Entry field of the Running station. A transmission with RST+S/N is made by the Running station to the caller, and the caller responds with 'TU 73' and moves away to their next QSO, that calling station operator clearly assuming that his serial number was copied perfectly clearly amongst all the noise and garbling in the first transmission. I lost count of how many times that happened in this contest, but after wasting time asking calling stations for their Serial Number, long after they had left the frequency, I decided to just delete these partial QSOs whenever they occurred, which will cause a NIL in the other station's LCR. Part of the skill of operating RTTY is understanding what the distant station has received correctly or incorrectly by reading which message the distant station is sending. Writing contest software with short-cuts in the operating procedure and encouraging new (and not always young) operators to use slick operating procedures should not be encouraged. Part of the magic of RTTY is about message handling, and knowing that both stations have exchanged data correctly. 73 Tim G4FJK / G8X |
GM5BDX | SO HP ALL | Dipoles amd FTDX10 |
GM5G | MSH | Good conditions on Saturday, however difficult conditions on Sunday with lots of flutter on signals and hard to get any real rate going |
GM8U | SO LP 80M | Icom IC-756PRO, 40-long Wire Antenna. Thanks for the contest, great activity! |
GU0SUP | SO LP ALL | Great fun, and I did more than I expected, but there was some lousy operating practices. Quite often, when I called a station, another would call me, and take the exchange from the station I was trying to work. I also had some very verbose exchanges from a few stations such as sending 599 twice and serial number once! Despite that, I had a real ball on the bands, although trying to run with just 100W was hard going at times |

HB9G | MSL | It was the first time to participate in this contest for our club HB9G, Geneva section of USKA. As we obtained an authorization from the OFCOM, non-licenced persons could operate the station under the supervision of HB9 operators during the contest. We had four candidates to become amateur radio operators. It was a great opportunity to show how the station works and how to make QSOs quickly and efficiently during the contest. They are all motivated to pass the license exam. Other HB9 operators enjoyed it very much. On Saturday afternoon, there was a queue of operators. And some of them came back afterwards either Saturday evening or Sunday to operate more hours. We will continue to participate in the contests in future |

IB9T | SO HP 15M | This year we did not have the opportunity to organize a M/S operation for WPX RTTY. As an alternative I opted for a SOSB15HP operating IB9T, together with Mauro IT9ZMX who chose to operate IP9A in SOSB10HP. Our only goals were to improve the country records and we succeeded abundantly. Thanks for all Qs and see you in the next one! 'Joe' IT9BLB, one of IB9T |
IB9Z | SO HP 20M | Very poor propagation throughout the contest. Many North American stations on the cluster but very few heard and connected almost none from South America, and even with the Europeans I had a lot of difficulty listening. I started with 70 watts but I saw that the conditions were not there and I moved to the high power category. About 22 hours of total activity |
